this is a report I did for school.... The oldest breed of horse in the world is the Andalusian, a beautiful and skilled animal. This is the Purebred Spanish horse, one of the two sub-breeds of the Iberian horse, the other being the Lusitano. Many people often mix the two up, because there is almost no visible difference. Notice the lean, medium length head and the large eye. (Cute, don’t chya think?) They are also very strong, compact horses despite their elegant appearance, and usually stand around 15.2 to 16.2 hands. These creatures come in a variety of different colors, thought 80% of all Andalusians are grey. Other colors seen are bay, chestnut, and least commonly black. Any other colors are produced by cross breeding. These animals are not only beautiful, but useful to, they were the preferred breed of horse for kings, are great in dressage because of their elegant features, and fancy footwork. These horses are often called “horse of Dance” because there are many special steps and footwork that they can master and other horses can’t. They are often seen trotting or high-stepping in a line at the exact same time, which takes a lot of energy and concentration. Also, they often put on shows Sometimes they are the flying horse to… They are used in cattle work, and bullfighting in their native home, Spain as well.. This horse is native and still found mostly in everywhere in Spain, but has also extended it's borders to around the world. When making a movie, what better horse to use than the Andalusian? Filmmakers around the world have not found an answer to that question, so many of these animals have been used in common movies such as Shadowfax in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Peter’s unicorn in Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and many, many more. The 8.Spanish name for this horse is Pura Raza Española, translating into purebred Spanish—because it is the Purebred Spanish horse. Sadly, the Andalusion is a war horse as well, many of them being killed, until there was only one herd left roaming Spain.
I love this horse, its kind temper, beautiful features and wonderful all around features. I think it is amazing. Thankfully they are making a huge comeback, and are back as one of the most loved horse breeds in the world. Thank you.
